Let the Holiday Season Begin!

To me today begins the Holiday season.

It is Thanksgiving in Canada. Yes I know I am not a Canadian, I am a sudo-Michigander, close enough to feel the pangs of them eating turkey a month before we get to. Once again, I know I can cook a turkey any day, but you all know what I mean.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Anyways, today is the official count down to gifts for me. I have decided this year to be a little selfish and not give a hand crafted gift to everyone on my list. I love them all, but I am feeling a little under-appreciated in the hand done stuff, so if they ask where it went, I will be sure to put them back on the list for next year. Sound a little selfish, yep you’re right.

I joined the Holiday Kal/Cal with Knaked Knits and Yarn Thing, and I will keep my list small.

For the Holidays I need to make:
A dress to wear to the military Christmas party
A bag to carry
Sweater for my daughter
Slippers for my son
Scarf and hat for the Sergeant
Odd socks if I get a chance
Blanket

The rest of my knitting and crochet will be finishing up what I already have going this year and working on a few things for a charity.

The charity I am going to be crafting for is The Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) of Berrien, Kent and Muskegon counties of Michigan.

This is a non profit organization devoted to helping pregnant mothers with substance abuse issues, get back on their feet, off the drugs/alcohol and give the unborn/newborn child a chance for a better life.

The way I found this organization was through a lady I met at college. She is a volunteer at the center and told me that a lot of babies are born to these women who are trying to start over and they need blankets, caps, booties and such to show that someone somewhere cares. Well, I care, so I am going to knit and crochet down my stash for these babies.

My family has so much. Yes we struggle like everyone else, but in reality, we have oodles, I want to help give a fresh start to someone who is trying to make a better life and this will be my way of doing it. If you would like to help, just contact me here or on Ravelry and I will let you know where to send things.
